Our Why
To join the battle to end heart disease
The men at Phi Kappa Psi Indiana Beta sought to create an event that would raise awareness for the number one leading killer of both men and women in the United States. Heart disease affects hundreds of thousands of people in the United States every year and is a silent killer among the population. In 2005, heart disease was the cause of 27% of the nation’s deaths. The proceeds from the Lake Lemon Triathlon are being donated to the American Heart Association to further research in this field and to come closer to a solution to this problem. Phi Kappa Psi felt a triathlon would be a great vehicle to provide this awareness and to give others information on how to live a healthy lifestyle in order to combat heart disease.
